Edward “Eddie” Lynch, 68, of South Boston, passed away suddenly at his home on April 14, 2026. Born on September 14, 1957, in Boston, Massachusetts, Eddie built a beautiful life for his loving family through years of hard work and unwavering devotion.
For many years, Eddie worked as a computer operator in the banking industry and retired in 2024 from IGT, but if you asked him which job was his favorite, he would have said it was being a dad and coaching his son, Patrick, in Little League. During his retirement, a favorite activity was walking to Castle Island and enjoying a meal from Sully’s. A lifelong Red Sox fan, Eddie loved the game and its sense of community—and he never missed a chance to place a friendly sports bet or debate the odds with friends down at the Chippewa Club in Southie.
Eddie also had a deep love for music, especially the songs of The Beatles, which were often playing in the background at home or during family gatherings. He was happiest surrounded by the people he loved, whether sharing stories, telling jokes, or hosting backyard cookouts filled with laughter, good food, and great company.
Eddie was a man of few words, but those words—delivered with perfect timing—could fill a room with laughter. His trademark dad jokes, clever puns, and warm, generous spirit will be remembered and retold for generations.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Lynch, with whom he spent 47 loving years; his son, Patrick; his sister Gail and her husband, Fred; his sister Kerry; his brother Jimmy and his wife, Marylou; his brother Danny and his husband, Kevin; his brothers-in-law Paul Vadeikis and Bobby Vadeikis and his wife, Maura Duffy; and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Lynch and Carol (Welch) Lynch; his siblings Timmy, Tommy, and Michael; and his niece/goddaughter, Taylor.
Eddie leaves behind a family and community forever shaped by his kindness, intelligence, and sense of humor. Visitation will be held at Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester St., South Boston, on Thursday, April 23rd, from 5–8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 24th, at 10 a.m. at Gate of Heaven Church (615 East 4th St., South Boston). Burial will follow at New Calvary Cemetery (800 Harvard St., Mattapan, MA 02126).
