Mary Elizabeth Trout of North Kingstown, RI, entered into rest on April 15, 2026, at the age of 76.
Mary had the biggest heart and was the most loving and compassionate person to all, lighting up any room with her presence and laughter. She always put the needs of others before her own.
She was our “Martha Stewart,” known for her wonderful cooking, crafting, and event planning, making every holiday dinner, or gathering a memorable and beautifully orchestrated occasion. Mary loved her home in North Kingstown and took great pride in decorating each year for the Fourth of July parade, even being featured in The Providence Journal. She was like a second mother to her nieces, from hosting tea parties in their younger years to celebrating them with bridal showers. She also created special memories with her nephew, taking him to the mall to visit Santa and the Easter Bunny and making birthdays extra special with festive hats for all to wear. She cherished bringing her family together. She was also known for her love of Dunkin' Donuts coffee, always ordering an extra-large hot with 25 creams and no sugar, just the way she liked it.
Mary had a fulfilling career as a podiatry assistant and later turned her passion for antiques into her own business, while also working in a jewelry store.
Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vance; her infant son, Kristopher Karl; her brothers, Jimmy and Peter; her parents, Dolores and Joseph; and her stepfather, Robert. She is survived by her partner of 12 years, Christopher May; her sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and David Fontes; her three nieces, Ashley, Elise, and Nicole; and her nephew, Jonathan, as well as many close cousins. She also leaves behind Christopher’s sons, Robert and Andrew, and daughter, Stephanie, and was a loving grandmother to their eight children, who adored her.
Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 21, at 11am in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, 2 Church St, Greenville, RI. Her burial to follow in Highland Park, Johnston, RI. Visitation will be held from 10am to 11am on Tuesday morning.
May she rest in the peace of Christ, reunited with those who have gone before her, and held in God’s eternal love.
