Kevin Russell Welsh, 39, of Mystic, Connecticut, passed away unexpectedly at home on April 11, 2026.
A restless spirit with a suitcase always packed, Kevin lived for the next horizon. He was at his happiest with the sun on his face—whether on a boat, a beach, or enjoying a fine cigar and a great meal with friends. He moved through the world with infectious enthusiasm, possessing a rare gift for making everyone he met feel truly special. His energy was a light that brightened countless lives, and his adventurous spirit will be carried forward by all who knew him.
Above all else, Kevin was a devoted father. His daughter, Elianna Welsh, was his heart and his greatest pride; his immeasurable love for her remains his greatest legacy.
Kevin is survived by his loving parents, James and Susan Welsh, who raised him with the values and kindness he carried throughout his life. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories with his siblings, Sarah (William), Patrick (Heather), and Timothy, and his adoring nieces and nephew.
He shared a deep, enduring love with Elianna’s mother, Chrisoula Papathanasiou, and considered her parents, Suzanne and the late Konstantinos, as his extended family.
He is further survived by his cherished grandmothers, Lorna Sealey and Ruth Welsh; his uncle, Gene Sealey Jr.; and was in a special relationship with Nicole Camilo and her daughter Michaela.
He was predeceased by his grandfathers Gene Sealey Sr. and William Welsh Jr., and Konstantinos Papathanasiou, who all welcomed him with open arms.
Kevin’s passing is a profound loss, yet he leaves behind a warmth and kindness that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Though his time was far too short, the impact he made will last a lifetime. He will be deeply missed, endlessly loved, and never forgotten.
Kevin's family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday, April 21, from 10:00am to 1:00pm at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic. At 1:00pm there will be a private closing of the casket for the family. Immediately following there will be a graveside ceremony in Elm Grove Cemetery where he will be laid to rest directly looking over his grandparents.
