Obituary

John R. Anderson, 79, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15th at UMASS Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
John was the beloved father of Tara Letourneau and her husband Michael, and Sean Anderson; the cherished brother of Brian Anderson, all of Worcester; and a proud and devoted grandfather to Ryan Lord and Arianna Letourneau, whom he absolutely adored. He also leaves behind his nephew, Brett Anderson. Family meant everything to John, and his love for them was constant, strong, and unwavering.
Born and raised in Worcester, John was the son of the late Willard “Andy” and Kathleen (Sullivan) Anderson and a graduate of Leicester High School. He went on to serve his country with honor as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War Era, a role he carried with quiet pride throughout his life.
John began his career at General Electric, where he worked for 15 years before retiring as a warehouse supervisor. Never one to slow down, he continued working for over 20 years with Knights Limousine, where his natural charisma truly shined. He had a way of striking up conversations with anyone, and what started as a simple ride often turned into laughter and connection, he never met a stranger.
In his later years, John found great joy working as a ranger at Blackstone National Golf Course for 12 years. Golf wasn’t just a hobby, it was a true passion and a big part of his life. He loved being outdoors, spending time on the course, and connecting with others along the way.
John had a personality that was truly larger than life. He was a jokester at heart, known for his quick wit, sarcasm, and his love of giving people a hard time in the most endearing way and those closest to him knew it was always rooted in love. He was a natural charmer, someone who could light up a room, make people laugh, and leave a lasting impression wherever he went.
He lived by a simple philosophy: work to live, not live to work. He valued time with his family above all else and found joy in the everyday moments. John will be remembered for his laughter, his presence, and the way he made people feel.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 22nd at 1:00 p.m. in O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester. Calling hours will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Flowers may be sent to the funeral home or donations may be made in John’s memory to Veterans Inc., 69 Grove Street,
