Obituary

Carol A. (Smith) Levine, of Beverly, Massachusetts, passed away on March 14, 2026, at Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. Born on March 9, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Emmett Smith and Pauline Smith.

She was predeceased by her life partner, Keith Raye.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Bagley, and her partner, Troy Patterson; her granddaughter, Tayla Solomon, and her husband, Nicholas Solomon; her great-granddaughter, Pauline Solomon; her son, Karman Raye, and his fiancée, Joann Pendleton; her grandson, Damon Raye; and her son, Eric Raye.

She is further survived by her brothers, Charles Oak and his wife, Marcia Oak, and Lawrence Oak and his wife, Tyra Oak. She was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Beaulieu and her husband, Norman Beaulieu, and her brother, John Oak.

She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Carol lived life on her own terms. She was stubborn, outspoken, and fiercely independent. She never backed down and always spoke her mind. She had a generous heart and gave freely to those she loved, even when she had little to spare.

She loved spending time with her family, cherishing every moment together. She was overjoyed to FaceTime her great-granddaughter every day for story time. She also treasured her daily talks with her granddaughter, Tayla, and daughter Kim, speaking every morning before work and again when the day was done.

Carol loved music and food, often sneaking chocolate or packing a Tupperware to go. She enjoyed watchingI Love Lucy and The Golden Girls with her son Eric, and cheering on the Patriots with her son Karman, especially when Tom Brady was playing. She also collected clowns, unusual, but meaningful to her. She adored her dogs, Snow Cap (“Cappy”) and Ricky, and her love for them was endless.

Carol missed her siblings, Pat and John, deeply. Carol and her siblings shared a love of horror movies, slot machines, and never failed to make each other laugh.

She loved her family deeply, and her warmth, humor, and loyalty touched everyone around her. She had a way of making those close to her feel seen, supported, and loved, and her presence brought joy and comfort to all who knew her.

She was a mother, a grandmother, an aunt, a sister, and a friend, and we are all thankful to have had her in our lives for as long as we did. She is missed dearly, and the weight of not having her here is felt by all of us.

Although she is deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace and reunited with those she carried in her heart, and whose absence she felt each day, including her father, whom she never had the chance to know in life.
