Cecile M. Hamel, 77 of Derry, NH died Friday April 10, 2026 at her home. Cecile was born in Methuen, MA on November 5, 1948, a daughter of the late Eugene and Bertha (Doiron) Carbonneau. She had resided in Derry since 1993, formerly living in Londonderry, NH.
She was employed by Veteran’s Administration as a loan guaranty officer. Cecile enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, traveling and cruises. She also liked going to car shows with her husband.
She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Hamel of Derry, one son, Robert L. Hamel, Jr. of Manchester, NH, two daughters, Laurie Hamel of Manchester, NH and Stacy Detris and her husband Jesse of Hillsborough, NH, as well as five grandchildren, Michael, Lucian, Jocelynn, Kaleb and Koira. She was predeceased by her sister, Yvonne Carbonneau.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday April 14, 2026 from 5 – 7pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30am in the funeral home. Burial will follow at 1:00pm at the NH State Veteran’s Cemetery, Route 3, Boscawen, NH.
