WATERBORO- Earle (Pearly) Eugene Ross, 94, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, in Scarborough, Maine. He was born on October 4, 1931, in Spencer, Massachusetts.
Earle was truly one of a kind, a social magnet with an unmatched ability to connect with anyone, anywhere, about anything. He carried an unquenchable zest for life and a spirit that was vibrant, fun-loving, and full of energy. Known for his quick wit and playful nature, Earle was a lifelong prankster who brought laughter wherever he went. He lived by the simple but meaningful motto: “Don’t sweat the small stuff.”
A skilled and hardworking man, Earle was a talented handyman with expertise in electrical and plumbing work. He was also the proud owner of a fish market, a business that reflected both his work ethic and love for his community. One of his greatest joys was his lobster boat, Dirty Sally, which he cherished deeply.
Earle had a passion for the outdoors and could often be found hunting or fishing. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching NASCAR, baseball, football, and golf. He loved good food, cooking, cigars, whiskey, women and spirited political conversations, but above all, he loved people. Time spent with friends and family was what mattered most to him, and his love for nature and animals was evident to all who knew him.
He is survived by his sister, Mildy Leighton of Farmington, New Hampshire; his children, Lyndon Ross and his partner Betty of Waterboro, Earlene Ross of Florida, Kimberly Ross-Southworth and her husband Peter of Waterboro, Mark Swenson of North Carolina, and Christopher Ross and his partner Jada of Massachusetts; and his best friend of 50 years, Lynn Bell. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews as well as many friends who became family over his years.
Earle was predeceased by his parents, Charles William and Edith Esther Ross; his siblings, Irene and Nelson; his children, Shelby Ross, Danforth Ross, and Earle Ross Jr.; and dear friends Al, Andy, Baka, Roger, and Simpson.
