Richard P. Hoffmann, 80

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Richard P. Hoffmann, age 80, Mansfield, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the beloved husband of Celeste A. (Beaudet) Hoffmann, to whom he was wed on September 20, 1975.

Born in Boston, MA on March 20, 1946, he was a son of the late Milford P. and Catherine A. (Bunyan) Hoffmann.

Rick, as he was commonly known, grew up in Sharon and was a 1964 graduate of Sharon High School. He later returned to his studies, graduating in 1982 from Dean College in Franklin with an Associates Degree in Computer Science.

A resident of Mansfield for the past forty-eight years, Rick was a retired Information Technology Manager, having been employed at Brookfield Engineering in Middleboro. His career there spanned forty-seven years, of which he was particularly proud.

Rick’s favorite times were those spent in the presence of his loving family, especially at their vacation home in Maine, where he also liked to host his close friends. An avid outdoorsman, Maine was his second home, where he proudly kept a small fleet of ATVs and welcomed his friends to their annual "Meat Week".

Along with his wife Celeste, he was a worldwide traveler, particularly post-retirement, and he enjoyed beer and whiskey tasting along the way. Rick was a voracious reader and history buff. During his later years, he mapped his family lineage and acquired Irish citizenship. He had a quiet presence, but was gifted with a quick wit and loved a good joke; the drier the better. He was a kind, generous man and will be sorely missed by his adoring family and loving cat “Milo”.

In addition to his beloved wife of fifty years, he is survived by his devoted children, Kaitlin C. Coughlin and her husband Joe of North Attleboro and Jonathan R. Hoffmann and his wife Zuzana of Prague, Czech Republic. He was the cherished grandfather of Markus and Sofia Hoffmann. The dear brother of the late Christine Hale, Karen Guisti and John Hoffmann, he is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, April 11th from 2:00-5:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

A service in celebration of his life will be held at the conclusion of visiting hours on Saturday at 5:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home. Burial will be private.
