CHICOPEE - Una M. Trudell, 90, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, March 27, 2026 at Agawam East Rehab and Nursing in Agawam. She was born in Holyoke on October 11, 1935, the beloved daughter of the late William J. and Lydia (Desrosiers) Trudell. She was raised and educated in Holyoke and had moved to Chicopee in 1990. Una was a longtime Sacristan and Housekeeper for the Diocese of Springfield and had worked in many church rectories since 1961 including All Souls in Springfield, Holy Trinity in Hatfield, Saint Theresa in Agawam, Notre Dame du Bon Secours in Easthampton, Saint Louis de France in West Springfield and the Cathedral of Saint Michael the Archangel in Springfield. Following her retirement, she volunteered her time at many local nursing homes and churches throughout the Diocese. She leaves her three dear nieces, Karen M. Sall and her husband, Rick, Doreen A. Toller and her husband, Bob, and Kimberly J. Gerry and her husband, David; her lifelong friend, Paula Raiche; her close friend, Elaine Rooney; and her many dear friends. Her Funeral will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of Saint Michael the Archangel, 254 State Street, Springfield, MA 01105. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, April 10, 2026 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. prior to her Mass.
