Obituary

Frances Rivera (“Nana”), 97, of Ventura, California, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, surrounded by the love she so freely gave throughout her life.

She was born on July 25, 1928, in Marysville, Yuba, California, to Carmen Montoya and Francisco Ramírez. Frances lived a life rooted in faith, kindness, and devotion to her family.

For over 30 years, she worked in the Del Monte packing house in Oxnard, but resided in Montalvo, Ca for over 30 years. Her true life’s work was caring for others. She found joy in the simple, meaningful things—attending church, serving those in need, tending to her garden, cooking meals made with love, reading her Bible, and working on crossword puzzles. She treasured books and quiet moments, but nothing meant more to her than being surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Frances was deeply devoted to her church and her faith. She loved playing the piano and lifting her voice in song as part of the worship team. Her home was always open—a place of comfort, warmth, and welcome. She gave generously of herself, making sure that anyone who crossed her path felt cared for and that no one ever went without a meal.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23

She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering faith, and the love she poured into everyone around her.

Frances is lovingly survived by her children: Ruben, Isaac, David, and Elizabeth Rivera; her daughters-in-law: Cynthia Jean, Carmen, and Cindy Elaine; her grandchildren: Ray, Joey, Ruben, Paul, Tiffany, Ryan, Justin, Joshua, Janae, Leilani, Alyssa, Amanda, and Maricela; and her great-grandchildren: Nadia, Michael, Vincent, Jon, Noah, Elyzza May, Mila, Sophia Frances, Bella Rose, Riker, Sadie, Madden, Audrey, Conan, Parker, Ender, Aria, Jace, Paula, Nathan, Alexis, Olivia, Little Ruben, Kulayanee, Natalia, and Kobe, Chrystal, Ray jr, Dimitri, Gabriel; her great-great grandchildren Ayden, Danica, Tristan, Damien
