William G Murphy III, "Bill/Billy", age 64, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2026 surrounded by his loved ones following a brief illness. He was born and raised in Chelsea and moved to Waltham in 2018.

Bill graduated from Chelsea High School, Class of 1979 and worked as an IT Support Associate at Harvard University for 34 years. He loved fishing, spending his time with his family & was an avid Boston sports fan. Bill enjoyed his time at Sabattus Pond in Maine and Bow Lake in New Hampshire.

Bill is the beloved husband of Ann (Velluto) Murphy of 39 years and his two daughters Ashley Merluzzi and her husband Anthony, and Alyssa Murphy, and her partner Robbie, whom he loved dearly. Bill is also survived by his siblings James Murphy and Karen Murphy and many nieces, nephews and great nieces. He is preceded in death by his mother Elaine E. Murphy (Cummings) & her partner Edward Bradley.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend memorial visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Tuesday, April 7th, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers, donations in Billy's memory may be made to Mass Audubon, Fund for Nature c/o Member Services, Mass Audubon, 208 South Great Road, Lincoln, MA 01773
