Obituary

Dale Eugene Stultz
November 4, 1939 – March 23, 2026

Dale grew up in the Church of God and gave his life to the Lord as a child. First and foremost, Dale was a servant of God. His life verse was 2 Corinthians 9:8: “And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work.” Daily he prayed that God would provide guidance and that he would follow where He led. Dale’s purpose was always to love and help others through his actions.

He did this in many ways, including sharing his property so many would enjoy the outdoors as much as he did. He dug a pond, planted hundreds of trees, and built several buildings, all with the purpose of sharing these wonders with others. He also shared his home, having many ‘friends’ and family living with him over the years.

After receiving his Bachelor’s degree from Anderson University, and his Masters from Ball State, Dale taught Arts & Crafts and Shop at Frankton Lapel for 35 years, to kids of all ages. He especially loved children.

Dale had numerous interests, adventures and passions:
--Dale worked at an OH airport as a teenager, and was the first person hired at the Anderson Airport, in Anderson, IN. A pilot himself, he used his skills by taking groups on mission trips, primarily to South America. He loved to share his fond memories of flying.
--Dale also truly enjoyed sailing. He owned two yachts, The Good News and the Sparhawk. He sailed The Good News thru the Erie Canal and it stayed with his favorite Christian children’s summer camp (Camp Good News), where he volunteered for many years. He lost the Sparhawk on the Atlantic Ocean, when the Coast Guard had to rescue him, during a nor’eastern.
--Dale enjoyed farming and he also started/owned several businesses including corn de-tassling, a used car lot, Newbie’s ice cream, and the Frugal Peasant.
--Dale was an accomplished artist, especially sculpture (various mediums, but wood (oak) was his specialty), and photography.
--Dale also co-authored three books with his dear friend Dr Douglas Welch. He did extensive personal research for these books, where he traveled to many places and spoke with numerous people regarding COG history. He also was a founding member (and the VP) of the Church of God Historical Society.
--Dale had a love for music. He played the sax, organ, piano, keyboard, and harmonica. He had a large collection of harmonicas.
--Dale was a calculated risk taker, and of course, all of these experiences, with severe dyslexia.
--He was truly an inspiration!
--He was a devoted and loving father to his son (Timothy) and his daughter (Erica).
--Dale was a faithful, caring, affectionate and fun-loving husband to Cheryl, his wife for 17 marvelous years.
--He is survived by his wife (Cheryl), brother (Lowell), his twin sisters (Charlotte and Charlene), his son (Timothy), daughter (Erica), and grandsons (Oliver and Sterling).

As his family and friends reflect on his extraordinary life, they do so with fondness, comforted by the knowledge that his legacy will endure in the lives he has shaped and in the love he has imparted.
Gone from us is a kind soul who brought light to every corner of his world. Dale’s story—marked by his unshakable faith, nurturing love, and enduring wisdom—lives on, a beacon that will continue to inspire and guide us for generations to come. Dale will be greatly missed by so many…

Almighty God, we rejoice in your promise of love, joy and peace. In your mercy, turn the darkness of death into the dawn of new life, and the sorrow of parting into the joy of heaven; through our Saviour Jesus Christ, who died, rose again and lives for evermore. Amen.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
