
Irwin S. “Sid” Cohen, age 81, passed away on March 26, 2026 at the Holyoke Soldiers Home. He was born on August 10, 1944 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, son of the late Herman and Belle (Schutzman) Cohen. Irwin proudly served over 20 years in the US Airforce and was a Vietnam Era Veteran. After he retired from the military, Irwin got a job as a mail carrier for the US Post Office and worked for over 20 years before he retired in 2005. He was very proud of his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA and was an avid fan of all Pittsburgh Sport teams. He also enjoyed taking trips to Pittsburgh with his son to see games. He traveled extensively during his time in the military and got to see many different places. He is survived by his loving wife Nola Cohen of Chicopee; one daughter, Rebecca Torcia of East Longmeadow; one son, Bryan Cohen and his wife Elizabeth “Beth” Cohen of Hampden; two grandchildren, Jonathan and Nicholas Torcia along with their father, Joseph Torcia; he also leaves Hannah and Emily Worpek with whom he cared for deeply. He is predeceased by his beloved dogs Snowball, Sadie, Rachel, Brandy and Gizmo. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Doctors and Staff at the Holyoke Soldier’s Home for all of the special care they had shown to Irwin during his stay. Visitation will be held on the morning of the funeral, Monday, April, 6 2026 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee followed by an in-house Prayer Service at 11:00 AM.
