Rose is surrounded in Heaven by her late sister Dorothy Cooney and her late husband Joseph, and late sister Delores Boyle and her late husband Francis.
Rose proudly worked for the Glocester Public Schools Lunch Program, serving and encouraging young children in the school community, including her own children. It was very easy to see that her true pride and joy was her family. She devoted her life to loving, comforting, helping, and cooking for others. Rose’s passion for her family was palpable. She looked forward to entertaining on the holidays, especially Christmas Eve (always sure to bring your appetite and your Christmas pajamas!), and constantly had family and friends gathered around during her summers spent camping at Fort Getty in Jamestown with her husband Joe. Rose spent her leisure time reading and bird watching in the backyard and loved being in the company of her husband. Together, Rose and Joe enjoyed traveling across several states and countries, including Italy, Portugal, China, and Peru.
Besides her devotion to her loved ones, Rose was extremely talented in painting and sewing. Her elaborate, detailed, and beautiful artwork and quilts filled the walls and rooms of her home for many years. Through her benevolence and warm heart, Rose was true to her Portuguese roots – she loved her family immensely and welcomed all with open arms, and always supplied those around her with amazing, home cooked food. Her personality shined as bright and beautiful as her blue eyes. Within her love and gentleness, you could also catch glimpses of stubbornness and subtle humor. Her smirk after making a quick joke is an image that will forever be cherished by her closest family.
Rose will be incredibly missed by her family and friends, and all of those that she impacted over the years with her kindness and compassion. She was the ultimate mother, nana, sister, and friend. We find peace and strength in knowing that she is reunited in Heaven with her husband, son, and granddaughter, among others.
Rose will be laid to eternal rest on Wednesday, April 8th. Visitation will be held from 9:30am to 10:30am at Anderson Winfield Funeral Home located on 2 Church Street, Greenville, RI followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in St. Joseph's Church, 144 Danielson Pike, North Scituate, RI.
