Allen Powell, 85, of the Lands Crossing community in Irwin County, Georgia, died Saturday, March 28, 2026, at his residence.
Family and friends will gather at 3 PM, Sunday, March 29, 2026, at The Paulk Funeral Home for a time of visiting and sharing memories. Memorialization will be by cremation.
Mr. Powell was born September 4, 1940, in Ocilla, Georgia, to the late Floyd C. & Mabel Rowe Powell. He earned an Associates degree and served his country honorably in the United States Army. He worked as an accountant for Jimmy Paulk and later worked as plant manager for Flintstone. He enjoyed bird hunting and golfing and going on fishing trips with his son, brother and nephew. He loved watching Westerns and was happiest sitting on the back porch watching the pond.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce Bolden Powell of the Lands Crossing community; son, Michael & Alice Powell of Marietta; daughter, Michelle Powell of Acworth; two granddaughters that he adored: Anna Rose Powell and Ella Noel Powell; special close family friend, Sheena Huey of Acworth; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Mike Powell and Gene Powell.
Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald, is in charge of arrangements.
