David Denholm, age 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 27, 2026 after a lengthy illness. David was the loving husband to Kerstin (Holmberg) Denholm for fifty-nine years.
David was born in Glasgow, Scotland on March 14, 1941 to the late John R. and Margaret D. Denholm. He was born in a bomb shelter, and according to history that night was the largest air raid against the city during World War II. He immigrated, with his parents and two younger sisters, to the United States arriving in Boston on his eighth birthday in 1949. The family lived in Boston for several years then moved to Avon. David graduated from Avon High School in 1959. David was a proud veteran having served in the Army from 1961 to 1963. After the service, he moved to Long Island, NY where he met Kerstin, his wife. David and Kerstin lived in several locations throughout MA and NY, settling in Brockton where they lived for thirty-two years while raising their family. Twenty years ago, they moved to Norton. At the early age of ten, David began his lifelong career in sales selling newspapers, for just a nickel, outside Fenway Park. David worked for several wholesale companies in the stationery and party industry. He retired at the age of seventy-three from Amscan as a Regional Manager in the party division. David was an avid golfer. These past few years he yearned to play once more. He enjoyed watching the Bruins, the Red Sox, shopping for cars, and taking care of his house on the Cape. He loved being surrounded by his grandchildren on summer weekends at the Cape. In addition to his wife, David is survived by his children: Stuart Denholm and his wife Catherine of Wrentham; and Elizabeth Belanger and her husband Michael of North Easton. He was a cherished and proud grandfather to Grace, Jack and Lily Denholm; and Eva and Sofia Belanger. Additionally, David leaves behind his sister Irene Mason of Largo, FL and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister Phyllis McAdam of Pembroke. The family would like to extend their deep appreciation to the kind staff at US Renal Care in Foxboro where David spent every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday for almost five years. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the American Diabetes Association or the National Kidney Foundation. A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 13th at First Evangelical Lutheran Church at 900 Main Street in Brockton, MA.
