CHICOPEE – Paul J. Brault, 92, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, March 26, 2026. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on June 14, 1933, a beloved son of the late Philippe J. and Rose (Dionne) Brault. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from the former Cathedral High School in Springfield and had lived in Aldenville his entire life. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War and attained the rank of Yeoman Second Class. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Navy Occupation Service Medal. He was employed as the manager of the Lucky Strike Restaurant in Aldenville for over 45 years and retired in 2003. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville where he also served as a Senior Altar Server. He was a life member, Past Commander and Adjutant of the Aldenville American Legion Post 337, and a longtime member of the Aldenville Junior Athletic Club (AJAC), the Chicopee Lodge of Elks 1849 and the Tiger’s Athletic Club in Chicopee. He also was a longtime volunteer at Saint Joan of Arc School in Aldenville. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Rita B. (Pepin) Brault. They were married on July 17, 1954 at Saint Marie Church in Manchester, NH and were blessed with over 71 years of happiness together. He also leaves his four loving children, Denise E. Lawrence and her husband, Peter, of Winter Garden, FL, David P. Brault and his wife, Renee, of Chicopee, Lynn C. Conway and her husband, Jack, of Santa Maria, CA and Glenn R. Brault and his wife, Deborah, of Huntington Beach, CA; his seven cherished grandchildren, Kimberly Jordan and her partner, Frederick Christensen, Jr., Rosemary Brault, David Brault, Jr., Shannon Conway, Shane Conway and his wife, Whitney, Stephanie Chabot and her husband, Eric, and Samantha Brault; his six cherished great grandchildren, Harper and Paxton Jordan and Brady, Blaire, Mabel Conway and Colter Chabot; his dear sister in law, Maria Pepin of Palm Coast, FL; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his cherished grandson, Matthew Lawrence who was Called Home on January 19, 2023; his dear brother, Roland Brault and his wife, Cecile; and his dear sister, Lucille Dubois and her husband, Raymond. His Funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 594 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial with United States Navy Military Honors will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral home parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
