BELMONT ---- Neil McSheffrey passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the age of 75.
Neil grew up in Braintree, Massachusetts, where he and his twin brother, Dan, along with their older brother, Brian, delivered more than 200 newspapers a day on their bicycles after school. Their parents, Bernard and Gertrude, completed the lively McSheffrey household with three older sisters — Judy, Marcia, and Jeanne.
After many years with New England Telephone in Boston, Neil and his wife Helen and their children transferred to Laconia, New Hampshire. He loved being a hands-on dad, supporting whatever sparked their interests. Summers were the best of times — camping trips and slow floats down the Saco River creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Neil had an uncanny sense of direction — both on a map and in life. If you needed to know how to get somewhere, he knew. And chances were, if you mentioned a name, he either knew that person, someone related to them, or where they worked. He was the calm at the center of every storm — steady, patient, and unflappable. His easygoing nature grounded everyone around him and made people feel instantly at ease.
Later, Neil became the Business Manager of IBEW Local 2320, where he and his devoted team worked tirelessly on behalf of their members. His sense of fairness and compassion guided every decision he made.
In retirement, Neil and Helen found joy helping care for their favorite grandchildren — Jaiden, Maddie, Lyla, and Lucas. Watching them grow and discover the world while he learned who they were becoming was one of the greatest blessings of his life. They carry forward his spirit — loyal, warmhearted, and grounded.
Neil leaves behind his wife of 48 years, son Andy McSheffrey and wife Jessica, daughter Johnna McKenna and husband Bob, niece Sabina Mullin and partner Nate Robinson, and nephew Keith Mullin and many other nieces and nephews that were an important part of his life.
As Alice Walker wrote, “Time moves slowly but passes quickly.” It certainly went fast, but what a beautiful journey it was. The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who touched Neil’s life and helped make it as exceptional as he was.
