BUXTON- Eddie A. Mains Jr., age 72, passed away on March 25, 2026, doing what he loved to do- being on his property and working in the woods.
He was born in Westbrook on Feb. 16, 1954, a son of the late Eddie Sr. and Mavis (Steeves) Estabrook.
He worked at S.D. Warren for a time and then lobstering out on Casco Bay (his favorite job) followed by a day of farming. He also worked for Trico Mechanical flying all over the country doing paper mill shutdowns (annual maintenance or emergency repairs).
Eddie will forever be remembered for the enjoyment he of had being in the outdoors, whether it be hunting, trapping, tuna fishing, or just relaxing. He also enjoyed square dancing, traveling, and most importantly- being with his loving family.
He lived to help others. One day he was asked “how come every time your phone rings, you head out to help someone?” He said “that’s what I’m here for.”
He loved unconditionally and was very proud of his sons. When talking, he said “my boys.”
He worshiped and served at the Grace Bible Church in Gorham. The family is very comforted by the fact he accepted Jesus as his Savior years ago and know that they will see him again. His granddaughter Izabel said “When we get to Heaven, all the trees will be cut down.”
Just look inside of heavens gates
A new mountain rose so grand
a memorial from the cries of us
at the passing of this man
The kind of man that Jesus loved
to watch his heart pour out
on every soul that needed help
or just to lift us up,
A monument you cannot see
without eyes made with love
for he had stored his treasure there
that begged us all to come
come and see eternal things
that truly make a man
not in words or flashy speech
but how he walked the land.
I can't believe he's gone ahead
oh eternity does shine,
Eddie's gone to stoke its flame
Though we wish it wasn’t time
