Obituary

Michael DeMauro, 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 22, 2026, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s dementia. He was surrounded by love during his final days.
Michael is survived by his two daughters, Christine Barrows and her husband, Brian, of Princeton, and Elizabeth Spingler and her husband, Sean, of Arlington; his loving brother, Santo “Sam” DeMauro of Worcester; his sister, Mary Lizotte of Colorado; and his four devoted grandchildren: Emily, Alison, Alex, and Luke, who were truly the light of his life. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Born in Worcester, Michael was the son of the late Santo DeMauro and Beatrice (Macisso) DeMauro. He is predeceased by his siblings, James DeMauro, Lucy Rano, Geraldine Shemeligian, Patsy DeMauro, and Joseph DeMauro, all of Worcester.
Michael will be remembered for his charismatic energy and warm, generous spirit. He had a remarkable way of making everyone feel seen and appreciated, whether through a kind word, a heartfelt compliment, or a simple smile. His presence brought comfort and joy to those around him.
He enjoyed a long and successful career in sales with the Pillsbury Company and later General Mills. He was also a devoted parishioner of Christ the King Church and Immaculate Conception Church.
Above all, Michael’s greatest pride and joy was his family. Nothing meant more to him than time spent together, especially with his grandchildren, who lovingly knew him as “Bip”. His love, laughter, and enduring kindness will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Michael’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at the Christopher House of Worcester and JHC Hospice. Their compassion, kindness, and unwavering support brought great comfort to Michael and his family throughout his time in their care.
