Alfred E. Lee Johnson, Sr., 81, of Omega passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Johnson at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Old Ty Ty Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. The Rev. Conway Harris and the Rev. Rickey Wells will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Born August 25, 1944, in Tampa, Florida, Mr. Johnson was the son of the late Billie Johnson and Edna Mae Ginn Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Johnson; and two sisters, Joyce Neese and Clara Ross. Before retiring, he worked as a mechanic for the Georgia Department of Transportation; and he was of the Baptist faith. His family was very special to him; and he considered himself a friend to everybody. He loved to go fishing; and he loved his dogs, Angel and Mollie B.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 63 years, Geraldine Howell Johnson of Omega; his children and their spouses, Freida and Frank Edwards of Fitzgerald, Lee and Stacie Johnson of Lenox, Nancy Strayer and Dale Fowler of Omega and Chris Johnson of Omega; five brothers, William Johnson of Valdosta, Howard Johnson of Tifton, Ashley Johnson of Omega, Billie Joe Johnson of Tampa, Florida and Royce Allen Johnson of Brandon, Florida; two sisters, Carolyn Riley and Sara Sutton, both of Plant City, Florida; nine grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family has requested that no flowers be sent – just bait a hook.
