Lila M. (Gosselin) Johnsen, age 86, passed away on March 23, 2026. She was born on July 2, 1939 in Springfield, daughter of the late George and Beryl (Hervieux) Gosselin. Lila worked as a telephone operator at Verizon for over 20 years before she retired in 1997. She was a member of Holy Cross Church, where she was very active in the Church Choir. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing, and spending time with her family. Lila was a devoted Catholic whose strong faith was a steady source of strength for her throughout her lifetime. She had an independent and determined spirit that carried her with grace through life’s ups and downs. She was recently blessed to have her granddaughter Tori and Tori’s husband Wayne as live-in caregivers. Along with their daily help, she enjoyed their sense of humor as well as the antics of their two dogs. She is survived by her husband Robert Allyn Johnsen of Springfield; two daughters, Vickie Bean and her husband Timothy of Island Pond, Vermont, and Susan Garvey and her husband John of Wilbraham; one sister, Zella Bailey of Springfield; four grandchildren, Tori Clark, Joe McMaster, Robert McMaster, Quinn Garvey, and their partners as well as three great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her grandson, James Garvey, her sisters, Janice Biancucci, Lois Mascaro, Grace Worboy and Beryl Matthews and four brothers, George, Robert, Norman and William. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
