SPRINGFIELD – Betty V. (Miles) Dubay, 97, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was called safely home on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. She entered Eternal Life at the Life Care Center of Wilbraham, surrounded by the care and comfort of her devoted family and caregivers. Betty was born in Johnson, Vermont, in March 1929, the beloved daughter of the late Charles and Loretta (Bates) Miles. She was raised and educated in Johnson before making her way south and ultimately settling on Miller Street in Springfield’s Hungry Hill neighborhood, where she built a life filled with love, community, and family. She worked for many years at several local businesses, retiring from the 90 Meat Outlet, where she was affectionately known as the “Demo Lady.” Betty was a faithful communicant of Saint Rose de Lima Parish and the former Saint George Church in Chicopee Falls. Betty found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. She cherished her summers at Sunset View Campground, where she could often be found playing bingo or dancing to her favorite song, “Could I Have This Dance” by Anne Murray. In her quieter moments, she loved baking for her family and painting ceramics, creating things that brought beauty and comfort to those around her. Above all, Betty’s greatest happiness came from the time she spent with her family, whom she loved deeply. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Armand F. Dubay, who passed on July 5, 1997. She leaves behind her three loving children: Linda Senk and her husband Robert, Wayne Dubay, and Vera McCormick and her partner Mark Barcomb, all of Chicopee. She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Brian Senk (Sinead), Karen Chevalier (David), Carrie McCormick (Juan), Matthew McCormick (Kelly), Jennifer Leydon (Brian Keenan), William Winkler (Becca), and Ryan Andrew Dubay (Erin), as well as a cherished great-grandmother to fourteen great-grandchildren. She also leaves her dear brother, Bruce Miles and his wife Doris, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and extended family members. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was predeceased by her son-in-law, John McCormick; her brothers, Gilbert, Earl, and Charles; and her sisters, Eleanor, Thelma, Vena, Erois, and Esther. Betty’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at the Life Care Center of Wilbraham and Beacon Hospice for the exceptional care and kindness shown to her. Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, April 4, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by a prayer service at 11 a.m. at the St. Pierre–Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road, Springfield, MA 01129.
