Adelia Kordzikowski, age 98, passed away on March 22, 2026 at Mary’s Meadow, Holyoke. She was born on April 4, 1927 in Worcester, daughter of the late Edward and “Bertha” (Trybus) Kordzikowski. She, along with her mother were the owners and operators of the Holiday Motel in West Springfield for many years. Adelia also worked as a marketing administrator for Spalding Worldwide Sports for 27 years before she retired. Adelia was an intelligent, shrewd woman of class. Fiercely independent, she was a career woman in a time before career women. In 98 years, she lived through a world of change, from a time where women couldn’t get a mortgage all the way up to taking pictures with her smartphone. Her fiery personality was balanced by her unwavering love of animals. No matter where Adelia went, any extra food was wrapped up in a napkin and brought home to feed the critters. Her dogs were her pride and joy, and later she opened her doors to any stray cat in need. Adelia is survived by her cousin Karen and her husband Joe of Florida, other family and friends in Massachusetts and hundreds of birds, squirrels, and cats. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026 at 10:00 AM in Hillcrest Park Cemetery. The Grise Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the MSPCA, https://secure.mspca.org. For online condolences, please visit www.GriseFH.com.
