Joseph C. Rego, 89, of Westport, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
Joseph was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He is survived by his beloved wife, Lorraine; his son, Joseph C Rego Jr. (wife Dovalina); his daughter, Tammy Borges; grandson, Evan Almeida (partner Sarah); granddaughter, Krystal Donovan (husband Daniel); brothers, John C Rego and Antone “Tony” Rego; sister, Eleanor Cabral; and great-grandchildren, Ailey, Reese, Jack, and Harrison. He was also the father of the late Brenda Almeida, father-in-law to the late Greg Borges, and proud “papa” to his grand fur-baby, Bailey. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Rego.
Together with his son Joseph Jr. they owned and operated Rego Construction of Westport for over 50 years, leaving a lasting legacy of hard work, integrity, and dedication. A lifelong sportsman, he loved fishing and hunting, especially during his trips to Maine, and was a devoted fan of the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox, never missing a game if he could help it.
Joseph was a man whose greatest joy was his family. His warmth, generosity, and unwavering love touched all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by family, friends, and all whose lives he enriched.
Services will be held privately.
