Obituary

WESTBROOK- James Joseph “Jimmy” Mills passed away peacefully on the morning of March 13th following a brief illness. Jimmy was born in Portland on November 1, 1959, to Josephine (Pizzo) Mills and Donald D Mills Sr.
Jimmy spent his career driving oil and cement trucks for Breggy Oil, Union Oil and Blue Rock Construction. His life was not an easy one, but despite the many challenges he faced, he maintained a kind and loving heart and cared deeply and worried constantly for those he loved most. Despite all that worry, at age 66, he had a full head of dark hair and not a single gray—something of which he was very proud!
Jimmy was a handsome and talented young man who loved music. He played guitar and sang with a beautiful baritone voice. He had a wonderful sense of humor. He would laugh heartily whenever he thought he “tricked” someone. He was an excellent cook, having learned to make delicious Italian food from his Pizzo grandmother and aunts.
Jimmy had a sentimental nature and kept many of the items that marked the chapters of his life. His belongings became a chronicle of cherished family photos, recordings, notes, and meaningful trinkets. His love of God was evident in the many religious sculptures and pictures that adorned his home and that he held dear.
Jimmy was predeceased by his parents and several aunts and uncles, including his very special aunt and second Mom, Theresa Pizzo. He is survived by siblings Donald Mills Jr and wife Karen of Saco, Karen Mills of Lady Lake FL, and Jeffrey Mills and wife Kimberly of New Gloucester. He is also survived by his sons, Nicholas Hadley and his wife Nicole, and James Hadley; and his grandchildren William and Charlotte. In addition, Jimmy leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly, who are too numerous to name.
A graveside committal will be held at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland, along with a celebration of life in the spring. Dates for each to be announced.
