Keith A. Johnson, 50
Dateline: Alton, NH Keith A. Johnson, of Alton, NH, lost his battle with cancer on Thursday, March 12, 2026. He was 50 years old. Keith was born to Richard (predeceased) and Marion Johnson of Cambridge, MA and grew up in Norton, MA. Keith would move to New Hampshire in 2000 which he adopted as his home state until his passing. Keith grew up an avid Boston sports and equally loved the Bruins, Pats and Sox. He spent much of his younger years playing baseball. Keith attended Norton High School and it should be noted he won the dance contest at the prom. Prior to graduating high school, Keith made a life-long dream come true by serving a greater cause by enlisting in the Army National Guard. Keith would spend the first 18 years of his military service as an infantry Soldier with the Army National Guard deploying to Bosnia, GTMO and Iraq. He forged many of his most treasured friendships early in his career. Keith was highly decorated and also earned multiple meritorious service medals including six army commendation medals, five army achievement medals, expert infantry badge, air assault badge, and military mountaineer badge as well as many other awards. He earned the distinction of being selected honor graduate at both the Army Instructor School and the Mountain Warfare School. In 2010, Keith transferred to the Army Reserve and would serve in a full-time capacity for another 14 years in various roles as an Army Career Counselor. His record of excelling would continue as he was recognized as the Battalion Career Counselor of the Year in 2013. In 2015, at the Army ripe age of 40 years old, he competed in the arduous Army wide Soldier of the Year competition and placed second amongst all Army Reserve Soldiers. While serving, Keith also earned his Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management from Southern New Hampshire University, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2014. Keith was an avid fitness enthusiast, completing several Army Ten Milers, Spartan Ultra Races, and three Tough Ruck marathons, placing ninth overall in 2020. Keith served as Battalion Master Fitness Trainer from 2017-2022. When not at the gym, Keith admitted to having one too many Moscow Mules and watching Dodo videos which eventually lead to fostering several rescue dogs from 2019 through 2022. He only kept one, Chloe. Keith is survived by his mother, Marion Johnson, his children Leo and Max, his sister Kim Piecewicz, his brother Craig Johnson, and his niece Abigail Piecewicz; as well as his Aunts Sandra Moriarity and Elsa Johnson and his cousins. He is also survived by his life partner Vicki Petalas, her boys Colby and tanner, his dog Chloe, and his “step dog” Benny. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, March 17th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 18th at 11:30 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home. Following the services, Keith will be laid to rest with full military honors at 1:45 P.M. at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
