Devon Lloyd Taylor, age 67, of Bronx, New York, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026. He was born in St. Catherine, Jamaica, the son of Kenneth Taylor, Sr. and Millicent (Carty) Taylor. Devon spent his early years in Jamaica before immigrating to the United States in 1988 in search of greater opportunities and to be closer to his family.
Devon began his career in the United States as a machine operator in a textile manufacturing company, where he worked faithfully for ten years. He later transitioned into the transportation industry, where he spent more than twenty-five years driving taxi and providing private chauffeur services. He took immense pride in his work and found joy in being on the road, meeting people, and serving his community.
When he was not providing transportation services, Devon enjoyed spending his personal time reading, watching his favorite sports games on television, listening to the radio, and playing his favorite old-time reggae tunes. Beyond his work, he was a devoted father to his children and treasured the time he spent with his family and loved ones.
Devon was the kind of man who would help anyone he could and was always willing to lend a hand. Humble yet strong-willed, caring, and deeply loving, he had a personality that left a memorable impression on everyone he met. After falling ill, Devon moved to Worcester, Massachusetts, where he spent the last three and a half years of his life surrounded by the care of his children and cherishing the time he was able to spend closer to his grandchildren.
Throughout his life, he exemplified dedication and a strong work ethic, always striving to create a better life for his family. His love and commitment will never be forgotten. Devon will be remembered for his quiet generosity, his deep love for his children, his strength, his humor, his craftsmanship, his loyalty and for always offering a comforting listening ear to whomever needed it. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
Devon leaves behind his wife, Sonia Taylor; his children, Antonesia Taylor, Andrew Taylor, Andrienne Taylor, Kevin Taylor, and Ishmael Taylor; his sister, Donna Taylor; and his brothers, Rupert Green, Everton Taylor, Chris Taylor, Errol Taylor, Paul Taylor, and Kenneth Taylor, Jr.In addition to his children, four grandchildren: Olivia, Nathanial, Kayden, and Amir.He was predeceased by his sister, Lorraine Taylor, and his brother, Owen Russell.
