Obituary

Dolores F. Wheaton, age 85, passed away peacefully February 18, 2026. She was born March 28, 1940, in New Bedford, Massachusetts, to the late Rose (Dame) and Adelard Morrisseau.

Dolores was the wife of the late John M. Wheaton (d. July 5, 2023). She was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and a lifelong educator whose kindness, patience, and generosity touched countless lives.

A passionate and committed teacher, Dolores began her career at St. George’s Catholic School. She went on to get her Master’s Degree in Education from Southeastern Massachusetts University. Dolores then dedicated 30 years of service teaching at Dartmouth Middle School, where she taught 8th grade English, Reading and Social Studies. She was proud of her profession and of the many students she inspired throughout her career.

Outside of the classroom, Dolores found joy in knitting, reading and gardening. She especially cherished time spent with her daughters and their families. Summers were treasured for days at the beach, followed by joy of sharing ice cream cones together- Grammy Wheat ice cream cones were the best! -moments that became lasting family traditions and cherished memories.

Dolores will be remembered for her devotion, strength and lasting impact she made in her family.

Dolores is survived by her two daughters: Ann-Marie (Wheaton) Anderson and her husband Donald Anderson of Dartmouth, Massachusetts, and Rosemary (Wheaton) Olt and her husband Ted Olt III of Bettendorf, Iowa. She was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren: John Anderson, Nicole Anderson, Kaitlyn (Anderson) Martins, Ashley (Olt) Terrell, and Meghan Olt. She was blessed with four great- grandchildren: Colin Anderson, Brooklyn and Jackson Martins, and Blair Margaret Terrell.

Dolores lived bravely with Alzheimer’s disease for ten years. Through the difficult journey, she continued to bring smiles, laughter and love to those around her. The family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate aides and nurses who provided exceptional care and kindness. The family will always be grateful to those angels who supported Mom with dedication and grace.
