Norman A. Champagne, 81
Dateline: Taunton, MA Norman A. Champagne, age 81, of Taunton, formerly of Norton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, March 5, 2026. Born in Attleboro, MA on November 28, 1944, he was a loving son of the late Eugene J. and Mary Jane (Desbiens) Champagne. Norm grew up and was educated in Norton. During the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged from active duty on September 25, 1969 with the rank of E02 and was the recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal with Fleet Marine Force Combat Operations Insignia and two Bronze Stars. Prior to retiring, Norm had worked as a heavy equipment operator for Local 4 International Union of Operating Engineers, a career that spanned for fifty years prior to retiring. Following retirement, Norm enjoyed visiting and keeping up with local construction projects. Norm’s family was the essence of his life and always came first. He received so-much pleasure attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and especially hosting family gatherings. Norm was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton, was a life member of the DAV, a member of the Norton VFW Post 8049, the Norton American Legion Post 222 and was also a member of the Angle Tree Rod and Gun Club in North Attleboro. Norm loved attending car shows in his 1955 Chevy and cruising the roads on his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He will always be fondly remembered for the meticulous manner in which he maintained his homes, for his quick wit and humor and for always being there to help others in need. He was the devoted father of Ronald Champagne and his wife Vickie of Taunton, Kendra LaConte and her husband Rob of Norton, Matthew Champagne and his wife Tanja of Arizona and Daniel Champagne of Taunton. He was the cherished and proud “PePe” of Dean, Mia, Giuliana, Domenic, Melissa and Stacey. He was the boyfriend of Sandi Larivee of Taunton and the former husband of Natalie Anderson of Taunton. He was the dear brother of Theresa Beaulieu, Rita Champagne, Linda Gerick, Lena Fraser and the late Wilfred Champagne, the late Louis “Pete” Champagne, the late Leo Champagne and the late Jeannette Allen. He is also survived by his many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday, March 11th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp Street (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 12th at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street, Norton.
