
Ardemis Ekmekjian of Belmont, passed away on February 28, 2026. She died tragically in a traffic accident. Ardemis was born on January 12, 1949, in Beirut, Lebanon. She was the beloved daughter of the late Mihran and Mary (Khederian) Ekmekjian. She was the devoted sister of the late Alice Vosgerichian and her late husband Garo and the late Zaven Ekmekjian. She was the loving aunt of Dr. George Vosgerichian and his wife Silva.
Ardemis graduated valedictorian in her class, and showed early promise in education. She taught at College De Bzommar in Dekwaneh, Lebanon. She was a gifted teacher, and left an indelible imprint upon her students. She was often revered by her students who sought to express their gratitude, even years after her teaching career.
In 1977, Ardemis and her family moved to Watertown, and later to Belmont, Massachusetts. She continued her education at the Katharine Gibbs School in Boston. She later pursued a career in the non-profit sector.
In later years, Ardemis remained an avid reader, and was very engaged in world and local events. She was fluent in Armenian, English, Arabic, and French. She was an independent and empowered woman throughout her life. She remained a great educator at heart. Her legacy will continue to live on as she will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and students around the world.
Funeral service will be held at Saint Stephen’s Armenian Apostolic Church, 38 Elton Avenue, Watertown on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. At the request of the family, there are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Saint Stephen’s Armenian Church. Interment at Highland Meadow Cemetery, Belmont.
