
Angela Dawn Underwood, 61, of Fayetteville passed away Friday, February 27, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born in Roanoke, Virginia, on November 15, 1964, to the late Carl Jr. and Christine Wood. She is preceded in death by her brother Jeff Wood and close friend Amy Schumacher.
Angela will be remembered as a strong and charismatic woman whose presence filled every room she entered. Faithful, outspoken, and full of sass, she was a true firecracker with a generous heart who always put others before herself. She was a devoted mother, sister, daughter, and friend, known for her empathy, forgiveness, and the deep love she showed to those closest to her. Affectionately called “Gigi” by her loved ones she treasured her family above all else and found joy in caring for and supporting them. A creative spirit and a true jack of all trades, Angela loved crafting and crocheting beautiful handmade gifts, leaving pieces of her love woven into the lives of those she cherished. She will be remembered for her warmth, her laughter, her strength, and the lasting impact she made on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday March 4, 2026, at 11 a.m. at Skinner & Smith Funeral Home’s Chapel in Dunn, North Carolina. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be held for Ms. Underwood at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2026, at Union Grove Church of God Cemetery in Eldorado, where she will be laid to rest. The Rev. Rickey Wells will officiate.
She is survived by her children, Ashley Preacher and Andy Adams, Addrienne VanOver and Theo VanOver; sisters Phyllis Robson and husband Bobby, Cynthia Harper and husband Ricky, Lynn Payne and husband Parrish; grandchildren, Abraham, Francesca, Cordelia, Iverson, Brianna, Presley; and special friends, Amador, Liz, Tiffany, Heidi, and many more.
