Audrey Davis Smith aged 88 of North Stonington passed at Westerly Hospital on February 28, 2026. She was born October 28,1937 in New London to Bernard and Antoinette Davis. She attended and graduated from Fitch High School and went on to Eastern Connecticut State College graduating in 1959. She married Carl L. Smith on June 27,1959.
She taught 2nd grade at North Stonington Elementary School for 30 years. She also spent 60 years teaching Sunday School at Christ United Methodist Church (CUMC) in Groton, of which she was a lifetime member, making sure all the children knew God loved every one of them.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Carl L. Smith, a son Timothy D. Smith of Uncasville, a daughter Melanie S. Sexton of Westerly, grandchildren Jared R. (Talia) Sexton of Pensacola FL, Fr. Zachary C. Sexton, OP of Louisville KY and Jessica L Sexton (Alex Mallory) of Westerly. She also leaves behind a sister Teddy (Larry) Timpano of Noank and nieces and nephew. She was predeceased by a brother Donald Davis, and sister Faith (Arthur) Geyer of Noank and a son-in-law Kevin J. Sexton of Westerly.
Visitation at the Dinoto Funeral Home 17 Pearl St. downtown Mystic will be Friday March 6, 2026 ,from 9-11am followed immediately by a funeral at Dinoto Funeral Home and private internment at Elm Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ United Methodist Church (CUMC) memo: Carl and Aud Memorial Fund. A celebration of life will be held at a future date at CUMC.
