Obituary

Philippe Chanial of Boston, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at home on February 15, 2026, following an almost two-year battle with glioblastoma. Born in Paris, France, in 1964, Philippe grew up in France and began his career in the restaurant industry, working in France and later in New York, Stuttgart, and Montreal. He eventually transitioned to automotive sales, spending his career with luxury brands such as Ferrari and Porsche in New York and then Boston. Philippe had a lifelong passion for car racing that began in childhood, attending Formula One races across Europe with his family. He enjoyed that his career in car sales allowed him to unite his love of racing with his profession, building a community of clients and friends who shared his enthusiasm for performance cars and motorsport. He had a deep appreciation for fine wines and cuisine as well as French and Italian music. Philippe was preceded in death by his father, Georges Chanial, and his brother, Michel Chanial. He is survived by his wife, Julie Scallen; his daughters, Ophélie and Chloé; his former wife, Valérie Ugolini; his mother, Aline; and his brother, Serge. He leaves behind a wide circle of friends from every stage of his life and many corners of the world who loved him and who were loved by him. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
