Obituary

Christine F. “Chris” Kelly, 58, of Brookfield died Wednesday, February 25th in St. Vincent Hospital. She leaves her husband of 20 years, Michael C. Provost; her daughter, Kiana L. Carter and her husband, James of Fort Carlson, Colorado; two sisters, Barbara Widen and her husband, Dennis Wood of Rutland and Patricia Valliere and her husband, Joseph of Douglas and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons, Ryan Branch and Bryant Sirmans; and five brothers, Paul F., Joseph L., James M., Stephen B., and Michael J.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of Francis J. and Gertrude “Gert” (Hennigan) Kelly. Chris worked as a bartender at the beloved local establishment, Pleasant Cafe, where she became a familiar and friendly face to many. She had a natural gift for conversation and connection, always ready with a listening ear or a quick smile. Before her time there, she worked in housekeeping at Becker College, where her strong work ethic and pride in doing things well were evident to all who knew her.
Never one to shy away from learning something new, Chris attended hairdressing school and became a licensed barber. She took pride in her skills and in making others look and feel their best.
Chris had a special love for animals. Her beloved chihuahuas held a particularly large place in her heart, as did her brother Michael’s dog. She also cherished her bird, caring for it with tenderness and devotion. Her home was her sanctuary, and she took great pride in keeping it spotless and welcoming. Caring for her house was one of the many ways she showed love.
Above all, Chris treasured her daughter. The phone calls they shared were among her greatest joys, and she held those conversations close to her heart. She also never hid her admiration for Barack Obama — proudly calling him “her man” with a smile.
Christine “Chris” will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her laughter, loyalty, and love will live on in the memories she leaves behind.
Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
