Robert E. O’Donoghue, 83 of Ipswich and a former resident of Essex, passed away peacefully with family by his side at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on Sunday, February 22, 2026. He was the devoted husband of Jeanne M. (Ouellette) O’Donoghue with whom he had shared fifty years of marriage.
Born in Boston and raised in Dorchester he was the son of the late Gerard F. O’Donoghue, Sr. and Mary T. (Walsh) O’Donoghue. A graduate of the Don Bosco Technical School, he was a member of the St. Kevin’s Emerald Knights. Robert began working for Blanchard Press shortly after graduation and was quickly promoted to foreman. He retired after 46 years with the company.
Robert was all about family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His passions were spending time with his family and in the yard at their home in Essex for 36 years.
In addition to his wife Jeanne, he is survived by his sister, Helen Smith of Raynham, daughters, Mary A. Aufiero and fiancé Justin Moeling of Chelmsford, Sharon M. Lasonde and husband Rob of Essex and Jennifer T. Wilson of Salem along with his grandchildren, Logan & Sawyer Aufiero, Zoe & Hunter Lasonde and Jack Wilson, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Gerard and John O’Donoghue.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem from 4:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, followed his funeral service at 7:15 PM. His committal service, at a later date will be private.
