DUDLEY – Stefania (Gumienna) Kicilinska, 88, died on Monday, February 23, 2026 in UMass Harrington Hospital, Southbridge after an illness. Her husband of 50 years, Jan Kicilinski died in 2005.
She leaves 2 sons, Jerzy Kicilinski and his wife Krystyna of Webster, and Stanislaw Kicilinski and his wife Malgorzata of Thompson; a daughter, Jolanta Rucinski and her husband Michal of Dudley with whom she lived; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren, she was eagerly awaiting the birth of a great-grandson, her 23rd great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her son Ryszard Kicilinski and by her grandson Dawid Rucinski, she was also predeceased by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
She was born on April 24, 1937 in Zawadka Osiecka, Poland a daughter of Wojciech and Marianna (Biernacka) Gumienna. Her first trip to the USA was in 1972 on the ship Batory over the Atlantic Ocean to visit her sister, since then she has traveled back and for between America and Poland.
Mrs. Kicilinska was a homemaker who was very talented at sewing, knitting, cooking, especially pierogi, and baking, especially her paczki and her amoniaczki cookies.
She was a communicant of Saint Joseph Basilica and a member of the Polish Rosary Sodality.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, February 28, from Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, with a Mass at 12:30 PM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street, both Webster. Burial will take place in Poland. Visitation will take place from 11:00 to 12:00 PM in the funeral home Saturday morning before the Mass.
