BUXTON - Floyd Elbridge Paynter, age 84, passed away on February 19, 2026.
He was born in Mallory, West Virginia on July 24, 1941, to George and Nora Paynter.
He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard and later worked for Xerox until his retirement. He was very excited by the news of becoming a great grandpa! He enjoyed woodworking projects for friends and family.
He is predeceased by a son Kyle Paynter, by siblings Myra Turner, Regina Durham, Kenneth Paynter, Sarah Griessmann, Iris Snyder, and Easter Paynter.
Floyd is survived by his wife Donna; daughters Jill Haynes and Beth Thornton and husband Charles Thornton; granddaughter Jessica Whitney and husband Collin Whitney who are expecting his great granddaughter Georgiana in June; siblings Eleanor Brandenburg, Blenda Trenum, and Nora Lewis; step daughters Sherry St. Pierre and husband Jon St. Pierre and Pamela Kenney and husband Patrick Kenney; and several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
