
David M. Morrissette, 70, of Fall River, peacefully passed away at home on Friday, February 13, 2026 surrounded by love and family. David was the beloved son of the late Gilbert A.Morrissette and the late Mary A. (Conroy) Morrissette of Westport. He was the husband of Phyllis A. (Lapointe) Morrissette, they shared 31 years of marriage together.
David graduated from the Plymouth Police Academy in 1988. David proudly served the town of Westport as both a Patrolman and Motorcycle Officer, roles in which he was well respected by his colleagues and the entire community.
He took great pride in his French and Irish roots, it was a significant part of his identity. He found beauty in the simple and meaningful moments of his life, taking his nightly rides with his beloved dog Sophie and spending evenings by the backyard fire which brought him great joy.
He was an avid reader and loved watching documentaries, especially about World War 2. David and Phyllis enjoyed traveling to tropical destinations especially on cruises and often ventured out on road trips. One of his favorite pastimes was going to different casinos and playing black jack.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his daughter: Sarah Ferreira and her husband Steven of Somerset; his siblings: Michele Choquette and husband Ronald of Westport, Timothy Morrissette of Fall River and Lisa Niemi and husband Jeffrey of Rochester; 3 grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Madilyn and Sheridyn; along with many loved nieces and nephews. He was also the dedicated brother of the late Brian Morrissette.
Memorial visitation will be Friday February 27, 2026 from 4-7 P.M. at the Potter Funeral Home in Westport.
A prayer and memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited will be at 7:00 P.M. Friday, February 27, 2026 at the Potter Funeral Home.
Interment will be private.
