Harry J. Salerno, 95

Harry J. Salerno, age 95, most recently of Norton, a former longtime resident of Mansfield, passed away peacefully, in the presence of his loved ones on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. He was the beloved husband of the late Catherine M. (Garaffa) Salerno, to whom he was wed for fifty-four years.

Born in Boston, MA on July 25, 1930, he was a loving son of the late Enrico and Angelina (Domenico) Salerno.

Harry grew up in the Roslindale neighborhood of Boston and was a 1950bgraduate of Hyde Park High School. During the Korean War, he proudly served his country a member of the United States Navy and following four years of faithful service, was honorably discharged on September 12, 1955.

Prior to retiring, Mr. Salerno had worked for thirty-eight years as a maintenance mechanic, specializing in plumbing, at the Shattuck Hospital in the Mattapan section of Boston. Harry was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Mansfield and enjoyed socializing with friends at the Norton Senior Center. Most of all, he loved spending time with his adoring family, was an avid Red Sox fan, enjoyed gardening and will always be remembered for his exceptional Italian cooking skills.

He is survived by his devoted children, Cathy A. Menchi and her husband Glenn of Quincy, Laurie A. Keane and her husband Robert of Norton and Paul Salerno and his wife Ursula of Watertown, New York. He was the cherished grandfather of Gregg Kennedy and his wife Kelsey of Mansfield, Michael Keane and his wife Lindsey of Attleboro, Robert Keane of Norton and the great grandfather of Kenzie and Parker. He was pre-deceased by his eight brothers and sisters and is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday, February 23rd from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main Street, Mansfield.

His funeral will begin on Tuesday February 24th at 10:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 12:00 Noon in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power Street, Norton. Burial, accompanied with military honors, will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
