
Jan W. Plewa, a resident of Charlestown and formerly of Poland, entered into eternal life on Friday, February 13, 2026 in his home in Charlestown, following a brief illness. He was 66 years of age.
Jan was born in Zakopane, Poland on April 7, 1959, a son of the late Jozef Plewa and Bronislawa (Kowalczyk) Plewa. He grew up in Klikuszowa and Krakow, Poland where he attended elementary school, high school, and graduated from college with a degree in electrical engineering. After he immigrated to the United States in 1985, Jan had a successful career working as a manager for Kayem meats in Chelsea. He was later self-employed in the transportation industry. He enjoyed fishing in New Hampshire, skiing, soccer, horseracing, history, politics, discoveries, nature, and animal documentaries. He loved traveling the world and was luckily to have visited 43 countries.
Jan is the beloved husband of Monaliza C. "Mona" (Cabang) Plewa. He is the loving father of Joanna Plewa, Jan Plewa, and Julianna Plewa. He is the dear brother of Zofia Barcikowska, Roman Plewa, and Malgorzata Starmach. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jan's visiting hours on Thursday morning, February 19, 2026 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown, followed by his Funeral Mass at 12 Noon in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown. His burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
