Obituary

Edda M. (Brisson) McNamara, a longtime resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Monday, February 9, 2026 at Medford Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was 97 years of age.

Edda was born in Franklin on October 5, 1928, a daughter of the late William A. Brisson and Victoria (Raymond) Brisson. Edda moved to Charlestown when she was 13, attending Boston Public Schools and graduating from Charlestown High School in 1946. She was a homemaker for many years who loved sharing celebrations with her family at her apartment in General Warren, which she served on the board for many years. She spent many days walking down to the mall, visiting Dunks and Citizens Bank. She volunteered her time helping others whenever she could. Her motto “ Sharing is Caring” was not just a motto but her way of life.

Edda is the beloved wife of the late Richard L. McNamara. She is the devoted mother of Deborah Biggins. She was known as Grandma to Tammy and Christina but was appointed a new title of Nema by her first great granddaughter Ariana. Ariana was the center of her universe, she could be seen playing store, play-do or just hanging out for endless hours. Soon, Nema would welcome more great grandkids-Emme, Jack and Molly to join in on the fun playing in the pink room.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Edda’s visiting hours on Friday, February 13, 2026 from 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM, with her Funeral Service at 11:30 AM in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Her burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.

In lieu of flowers, kindly make a memorial donation in Edda’s name to:
