Karen L. Allison, 79, of San Francisco, California passed away Friday January 2, 2026 at St. Antoine Residence in North Smithfield Rhode Island. Born and raised in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, she was daughter of the late Ellsworth Allison and Dorothy (McPhail) Allison.
Karen attended local schools in Grosse Pointe and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in music and social work from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.
Karen spent most of her life on the West Coast where she resided in San Francisco for 50 years. Recently, to be near her family, she made her home in Northern Rhode Island.
For 30 years, Karen worked as an office manager for law firms in San Francisco including Bishop, Barry, Howe & Reed.
Karen was musically gifted as a classical organist and pianist.
She was a member of the PEO women’s club and her church in San Francisco. Karen was a foster mother for over 25 years sharing her love and home with many children over the years.
She is survived by her sons, Walter F. Eayrs and his wife Amanda Lang Eayrs, VMD of Mapleville, RI and Nathan Allison of San Francisco. She was the loving and proud grandmother of Isabella Yvonne Earys and Weston Frederick Eayrs. Karen was pre deceased by her brothers, John and Thomas Allison of Grosse Pointe, Michigan and sister, Judith, and her husband Martin Hutchinson of Santa Clara, California. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews and their families.
In accordance with her wishes, private services for Karen will be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest in the family plot in Grosse Pointe, Michigan.
