Obituary

Francis G. Daggett, age 88, affectionately known as “Ted,” passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Beatrice “Bea” E. (Anten) Daggett. The two met at just 17 years old and were inseparable ever since, sharing nearly 70 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and treasured memories.

Born and raised in Quincy, Ted was the son of the late Francis G. Daggett, Sr. and Muriel (Mundy) Daggett. He was a proud graduate of Quincy High School and served his country honorably in the United States Navy as a Corpsman from 1955 to 1958.

Following his military service, Ted worked as a firefighter in the City of Brockton for many years before retiring, showcasing his desire to serve and protect his community.

Ted found great joy on and around the water, whether boating, sailing, or fishing. Family and friends fondly remember summers spent at his beloved cottage in Lakeville, where days were filled with sailing, boating, tubing, and swimming in the lake, often followed by relaxed outdoor barbecues and evenings watching the sky fade into beautiful sunsets.

Through his life, Ted was known for his strong work ethic and his remarkable skill as a handyman—able to fix or build just about anything. He took pride in honest work and enjoyed the simple things in life, never feeling the need to travel far or seek anything lavish. Instead, he found true joy in quiet moments, meaningful conversations, and time spent with the people he loved. Above all, he will be affectionately remembered for his generosity, kindness, and selflessness.

Along with being a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Bea, Ted was a proud and dedicated father to his two sons, Michael A. Daggett of Woburn, and Stephen G. Daggett of Rochester, NY. He was also a caring and cherished father-in-law to Joanne Daggett and Joy Daggett. He was a steady source of support and a treasured role model to his grandchildren, Lisa Daggett, Laura Flynn, Sarah Brandel, David Daggett, and Lydia Lascola, and a beloved great-grandfather to Thomas Flynn, Dean Brandel, Harvey Daggett, Ruby Daggett, Eleanore Daggett, and James Lascola, each of whom brought him immense joy.

To honor the wishes of his family, his funeral services and interment at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA will be private.
