
Mary Jacqueline “Jackie” Brown Spradley, 88, of Tifton passed away Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 8, 2026, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funeral with the Rev. Matt Howell officiating. Mrs. Spradley will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 8, 2026, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals from 2:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Eric Collins, David Collins, Eddie Gibbs, Jamie Mitcham, Jay Spradley and Greg Yawn will serve as pallbearers.
Born December 26, 1937, in Tifton, Mrs. Spradley was the daughter of the late Harvey Clifford Brown and Reideth Mobley Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Paul Randolph Spradley, who passed away on September 19, 2025; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, James Emmett Spradley, Sr. and Mary Catherine Yale Spradley; her sisters-in-law, Marjorie Spradley Bergman, Doris Spradley Chapman, Jeanneane Whiddon Spradley; and her brothers-in-law, James Emmett Spradley, Jr. and Alford Bennett Chapman.
Jackie graduated from Tifton High School in 1956. She played the clarinet in the Tifton High School band under Mr. Len Lastinger. She also participated in the Student Council and other clubs.
Jackie graduated from Grady Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Atlanta with her R.N. degree in 1959. She worked in all areas of the nursing field. She was an assistant teacher in the nursing school at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in the late 1970s. Her final job before retirement was being the nurse at West Point-Pepperell and Shaw Industries in Tifton.
Jackie was known as the “AVON Lady.” She began selling AVON in 2001 and continued selling until her death.
Jackie was a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church and a member of the JOY Sunday School Class. She was past president of the Tifton Elks Auxillary 1975. She enjoyed playing bridge with her bridge group for many years. She loved Siamese cats.
Jackie loved her grandsons, Joe William and Samuel. They were her pride and joy. She was named MaMaw by Joe William when he was a toddler. She loved being “MaMaw.” Jackie enjoyed attending all of their church, school, and sporting events. She enjoyed being at her cabin with Paul and her family on the Alapaha River and vacationing every summer at Ormond Beach, Florida. Jackie loved watching the Georgia Bulldogs and watching Nascar especially when Bill Elliott was racing. Jackie loved to dance and enjoyed listening to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Johnny Mathis, and James Brown. She loved her granddog, Ginger.
Jackie is survived by her daughter, Susan Brown Spradley Sheffield; her son-in-law, Joe William Sheffield, Sr.; her grandsons, Joe William Sheffield, Jr., and Samuel Paul Sheffield; her sister, Beth Brown Collins, her brother-in-law, Don Durant Collins; her first cousins, Mariann Willis Cottle and Charles Franklin Cottle; and many nieces and nephews.
