Obituary

Thomas E. O’Connor, age 86, of Raynham, formerly of Middleboro and Brockton, died peacefully surrounded by his family on February 1, 2026. He was the beloved and devoted husband of the late Mary M. (King) O’Connor for 61 years.

Born in Boston and raised in Dorchester, Tom was a parishioner of St. Mark’s Parish. In 1961, he married the love of his life, Mary, and together they moved to Brockton, where they began their family.

Tom was a graduate of Christopher Columbus High School and Wentworth Institute of Technology, where he became a licensed architect. He worked for several Boston architectural firms and concluded his career at Boston College before retiring in 2002. He also proudly served for several years in the Army National Guard. Full of life, Tom was always quick with his wit and meticulous in his planning. He had a deep passion for his faith, family, gardening, drawing, and his Irish heritage, including travel, dancing, and music. His favorite saying was, “Measure twice, cut once,” and he was always willing to pace out a dimension or level out inconsistencies.

He was a longtime member of Ireland’s Own of Brockton, the Oak Point Golf and Bowling Leagues, and the Drawing Club. He cherished all the moments he spent laughing and having fun with his many friends and family. He especially enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren’s sporting events and dance recitals. A talented artist, Tom created personal drawings for each of his children and grandchildren over the years—keepsakes they will treasure forever.

Tom is survived by his children Thomas F. O’Connor and his wife Tammy, Michael T. O’Connor and his wife Maureen, and Mary A. Amirault and her husband Rich, all of Raynham. He was the devoted grandfather of Thomas, Timothy, Shane, Owen, Patrick, and Keegan O’Connor, and Siobhan and Richard Amirault. He is also survived by his sister, Cecilia Doherty of Quincy, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Mary, his parents Thomas and Mary O’Connor, formerly of County Kerry, Ireland, and his sisters Eileen Abner, Elizabeth (Betty) Ryan and Mary O’Connor.

Visiting hours will be held at Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Route 123), Brockton, on Sunday, February 8, from 12:00–3:00 PM. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home on Monday at 8:45 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Ann’s Church, Raynham, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.
