Sergeant First Class (Retired) Cynthia Marie Dougherty, 65, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at her residence. A funeral mass will be held for SFC Dougherty at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Our Divine Savior Catholic Church in Tifton with Father Alfonso Gutierrez officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 7, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. SFC Dougherty will be laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens with military honors.
Pallbearers will be members of the United States Army.
Born September 22, 1960, in Newton, New Jersey, SFC Dougherty was the daughter of the late Patricia Wicki Dinger. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by one brother, Eric Huffman; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward Dougherty, Sr. and Lois Mae Dougherty; and one brother-in-law, Peter Dougherty. She retired from the United States Army as a Sergeant First Class; and she was a medical lab technologist. She loved her fur babies, Coco and Bela.
SFC Dougherty is survived by her husband, Captain (Retired) William Leo “Bill” Dougherty of Tifton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Louis and Joanne Huffman and Christopher and Angela Dinger; a sister-in-law, Joann Huffman; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lisa and Fred Khoshnevissan and Rebecca Dinger and Shawn Tedder; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Edward Jr. and Sandy Dougherty, Pamela and Mike Blackmon, Timothy and Judy Dougherty, Ann and Terry Dawkins, Katy Dougherty and Molly and Jonathan McDaniel; her aunt, Staff Sergeant (Retired) Carol Lightcap of Gulfport, Mississippi; and numerous nieces and nephews.
