With deep sadness, we announce the passing of our mother, Nathalie A. Markow. Nathalie, known fondly as “Nat,” was a resident of Salem, MA, for over 35 years. She passed away on January 27, surrounded by her loving family at age 98.
Nathalie was the daughter of Arthur and Eva Annis of Boston. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard E. Markow. She was a beautiful, talented woman who was very passionate and strong-willed. She was a successful business owner. She was very proud of the two businesses she ran; a hallmark store and later in life an upscale consignment shop.
She loved the beach and turned an extensive shell collection into works of art. She was an avid reader, loved knitting, needlepoint and playing mahjong. Our mom loved her iced coffee and looked forward to driving herself to her favorite coffee shop every day. Everyone there knew her and treated her like a queen. She did this almost every day until age 97!
She loved having her family around her. She was the mother of Vicki MacDonald and husband Jack, Leslie Klashman and her husband Fred, Lori Castinetti and her husband Steve, Robby Markow and her life partner Ron Fonzi. She also leaves behind her grandchildren; Ruby Klashman and her husband Brian Weiss, Jacob Castinetti, and two great grandchildren, Easton and Brigs.
She will be sadly missed.
A private service for the family will be held at Sharon Memorial Park.
