Obituary

Carol J. (Ross) Roussell, 94, of Tiverton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at John Clarke Senior Living. She was the beloved wife of the late Roger L. Roussell.

Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, Carol was the daughter of the late Norman K. and Ella (Barlow) Ross. She resided in Tiverton for most of her life and remained deeply connected to the community she loved.

In her younger years, Carol was an activemember of the Tiverton Yacht Club, where she enjoyed swimming and racing her Beetle Cat sailboat.

She was a graduate of the Truesdale School of Nursing, Class of 1952, with special affiliations at Boston Children’s Hospital and Northampton State Hospital.

Prior to her retirement, Carol was a registered nurse and served as a supervisor at the International Ladies Garment Workers Union Health Center in Fall River. In this role, she also worked as a recruiter for women employed in the mills, advocating for and ensuring they received appropriate and comprehensive health care services. Her dedication reflected a lifelong commitment to compassion, service, and fairness.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to John Clarke Senior Living, Brookdale Sakonnet Bay, and Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Middletown for the compassionate care they provided to Carol.

Carol is survived by her sons: Roger L. Roussell, Jr. and his wife Mary (Mason) of Little Compton, RI; Peter R. Roussell and his wife Kerri (Tucker) of St. Augustine, FL; and Paul T. Roussell of Cranston, RI; her sister, Elizabeth (Ross) Burchell of Palm Coast, FL; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Norman K. Ross, Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 1956 Main Road, Tiverton, RI.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 9, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport, MA, prior to the Mass.

Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Portsmouth.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Holy Trinity Church, 1956 Main Road, Tiverton, RI 02878.
