SPRINGVALE- Elizabeth “Betsy” Cardona, age 78, passed away on January 24, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born in Trenton, New Jersey, Betsy was a graduate of Trenton Central High School, Class of 1966. She spent many years in Trenton and Toms River before later making her home in Springvale, Maine.
Betsy dedicated her career to serving her community as a crossing guard for the City of Trenton, New Jersey, where she was affectionately known to generations of students and families during her time posted at P.J. Hill Elementary School. Her watchful presence, warm heart, and commitment to keeping children safe left a lasting mark on the neighborhood she served.
She was a passionate sports fan, fiercely devoted to all Philadelphia teams, the New York Yankees, and the Sanford, Maine Mainers—a loyalty she wore proudly and enthusiastically.
Betsy was predeceased by her mother, Elizabeth Hill; her father, Frank Hill, Sr.; her brother, Frank Hill, Jr.; her first husband, Stanley Kramer, Sr.; and her second husband, Joseph Cardona.
She is survived by her partner, Sherwin Start of Springvale, Maine; her daughter, Kimberly LaPierre of Browns Mills, New Jersey; her son, Stanley Kramer, Jr. of Selkirk, New York; her cherished grandchildren Amber Sanchez of Sanford, Maine, Angel Sexton of Hamilton, New Jersey, Khloe Kramer of Selkirk, New York, and Konnor Kramer of Selkirk, New York; and her beloved great-grandchildren Riley Stevens, Skyla Rose Stevens, and Lilliana Barber.
Betsy’s ashes will be buried with her first husband in the summer. Service details will be shared on social media at a later date.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, and her memory will live on through her family and the many lives she touched.
